Being an elder isn't just about age, it's about accumulated experience and wisdom.  The Suatainable Sheep and Fiber Community of Northern Minnesota (SSFC) is sponsoring an event featuring local fiber artists and speakers who will share their experiences and art with the community.

This is an opportunity to learn from those who bring their experiences to life through art and presentations.  Come explore the art and travel with us as we share in those experiences.

Speakers include fiber artist Linda Johnson-Morke who presents "Traveling the World from a Fiber Perspective: Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands, Mongolia and New Zealand, learnings and surprises!" Linda was the instructor for the Tapestry Felted Mongolian Yurt Project our SSFC did in 2020 and creates beautiful felted fiber pieces from her flock of American Karakul and other sheep breeds.

Local artist Ruth Ann Nordlund will share and discuss some of her beautiful and varied pieces of art.  Ruth Ann has been an active part of the art community in the Bagley area for most of her life and has taught in both elementary and high school in Bagley.  After retirement, she continues her art at her studio south of Shevlin, exploring her Scandinavian heritage by creating aesthetically pleasing art.

Bob Paulson, artist and weaver will discuss his experiences learning different Scandinavian techniques in creating woven and other types of art pieces and showcase some of his favorites.  His interest in Scandinavian folk weaving has lead him to train in Decorah, Iowa at Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum and with artists Lila Nelson and other weaving instructors.
