Honoring the Farming Community and Fiber Traditions of Northern Minnesota
The Sustainable Sheep and Fiber Community revitalizes the sheep and fiber industry in northern Minnesota with a focus on sustainability, local meat and fiber production. This project is supported by a Small Scale Sustainable Sheep Farming Educational Event, a Sustainable Sheep Community Networking group with the Sustainable Farming Association of Minnesota, and a Fiber Festival in northern Minnesota.
The Sustainable Sheep and Fiber Community works towards creating jobs in the community, supporting local businesses, and supporting local fiber and textile production. Networking is built with producers and retail stores through the sheep events and other educational opportunities . Involvement of youth takes place at the events and projects that include marketing research, promotion of sheep shows, and 4H.
