9:45 a.m. Wool types and values, Marketing: Travis Hoffman, Ph.D. Fleece Demo
Do we have the best fiber for our project? How can our raw wool be worth more? Dr. Travis Hoffman, Extension Sheep Specialist, will provide an interactive discussion emphasizing the connection of the origin of wool, product type and usage, and market value for the fiber enthusiast. Wool comes from a variety of sources of fine, medium, and coarse wool sheep, goats, alpacas, rabbits, etc. Travis and Brooke Hendrickx, past SDSU Wool Judger, look forward to you bringing your wool and fiber raw materials to personalize the demonstrations on optimizing value, marketing, and product utilization.

10: 45 a.m. Sheep Handling Equipment and Management: Alan Hendrickx
Alan will be talking about Minnesota Lamb and Wool Producers Assn. (MLWPA), where he is the NW regional director. He will also be speaking on basic information on sheep feeding and handling such as space requirements, feeder space per animal, guidelines to building feeders, gates and sheep equip, as well as making your setup both sheep shepherd friendly. If time allows he will talk about basic sheep nutrition and some basic ration balancing.

1:00 Virtual tour of Rafter P Ranch: Dan Persons
Dan will be sharing what EID can do for your operation as well as giving a glimpse of how his own farm functions.
2 p.m. Fecal Egg Count Demonstration: Margo Hanson
This workshop will consist of a brief description of the benefits of being able to do your own fecal exams. There will be a demonstration of the procedure, with time for participants to look through the microscope at slides, showing what barber pole (Haemonchus contortus) eggs look like. A handout will give information on purchasing a microscope, slide kit, and directions on doing your own fecal exams at home.
Includes discussion on breeding for resistance with Margo Hanson and Alethea Kenney.
