Workshop Descriptions for Sustainable Sheep Event 2018

9:45 a.m.  Wool types and values, Marketing: Travis Hoffman, Ph.D. Fleece Demo

Do we have the best fiber for our project?  How can our raw wool be worth more?  Dr. Travis Hoffman, Extension Sheep Specialist, will provide an interactive discussion emphasizing the connection of the origin of wool, product type and usage, and market value for the fiber enthusiast.  Wool comes from a variety of sources of fine, medium, and coarse wool sheep, goats, alpacas, rabbits, etc.  Travis and Brooke Hendrickx, past SDSU Wool Judger, look forward to you bringing your wool and fiber raw materials to personalize the demonstrations on optimizing value, marketing, and product utilization.
